What used to be "two elegant 19th-century mansions" is since 2004 an "elegant" "cool and ultramodern", "boutique hotel". Ampar, the hotels restaurant is highly recommended by the Lonely Planet Guide, who esteem that it is just as "stylish" as the hotel itself, with "small but delectable" portions. The reception area is flooded by light from the garden. "Buffalo skin carpet", and "cool abstract artwork throughout" decorate it. There are "a couple of relaxing guest lounges", and staff are said to be "attentive and welcoming". Guestrooms are "big", with "well-sprung beds" and are "styli [more]

Much else about the interior is striking: "gaping windows", "dark wood used throughout", "grand lobby" and "carved staircase". Clearly it is a "former aristocrat home". The bedroom has "cloud-like" beds with Egyptian cotton sheets and "soft and squishy" pillows. You can recline watching a plasma-screen TV.
