Denver International Airport - Denver, United States of America
Thoughts on Denver International Airport (27.01.2007 04:14)
Denver International Airport is the replacement for Stapleton International Airport. At the time it was finished it was the largest airport in the world in terms of land mass. It is still in the top five. It is also the fifth busiest airport in the United States. During the construction of the airport American Indian Holy men came to the site to bless it. Also found on the site were dinosaur [more...] -
Lake Dillon - Dillon, United States of America
An October ride on the Bike Paths of Lake Dillon (22.01.2007 03:34)
Dillon Reservoir is extremely easy to get to. It is just a short 112 km drive west on I-70 from Denver. I-70 is the main highway west from Denver to the mountains. The lake is the largest impoundment in the Denver water system with a capacity of over 310 billion liters. It has about 41 km of shoreline. There are a total of two marinas that are operated by two different towns that have [more...] -
Pawnee Buttes Trail - Grover, United States of America
A great day hike on the paririe (13.01.2007 18:10)
I live in Denver, which is where the closest international airport is located. From my home to the buttes is about 197.91 km. Plan about 2 ½ hours to arrive. It is a straight ride up interstate 25 to U.S. highway 24 at the Ault exit. Then turning east until I get to county road 380, this is a little different route than what all the websites show but it ends up at the same place. The final [more...] -
Standley Lake Regional Park - Westminster, United States of America
Standley Lake Regional Park, a relaxing afternoon (11.01.2007 05:10)
Standley Lake is very easy to get to and to use. Officially there is an entrance fee. That is charged only if one drives in. On the southwest side of the lake there is a parking area. One can park here and enter the regional park for free to utilize the hiking / biking trails that are along three sides of the lake. This also is a great access to the fishing. The boat ramp and camping access are on [more...] -
Vicksburg National Military Park - Vicksburg, United States of America
Vicksburg National Military Park Reviewed (08.01.2007 05:20)
This was one my most fun learning expirences. To start with it was very accesible. I stayed in a motel that is about half a kilometer from the entrance to the park. I simply unloaded my bicycle from the car and road it up the hill to the entrance to the park. It was a little harder getting back as the road is the main highway between Vicksburg and Jackson, the state capitol. It was perfect. [more...]
