Desert Pearl Inn - Springdale, United States of America - July, 2004
A totally stunning experience (10.05.2007 21:02)
The Desert Pearl Inn is located in Springdale, which is the entrance town to Zion National Park. I had done a lot of research on the web before booking this hotel. Their website promised beautiful, large rooms with great views; we were not disappointed. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, it definitely more than lived up to our expectations. It is simply stunning. [more...] -
Hunting Island State Park - Beaufort, United States of America
One of the most amazing beaches (05.05.2007 15:52)
Hunting Island is the most amazing beach area I have ever been to. It is located about 60 miles south of Charleston. To get to it you have to travel across to the Island which is a nature reserve. You drive through very lush and tropical vegetation. There is a lot of wildlife here, birds, lizards, etc. You can camp here, either in tents or in the chalets on site, or just visit for the day [more...] -
San Diego Zoo´s Wild Animal Park - Escondido, United States of America
One of the best wild animal parks in the world (05.05.2007 15:31)
San Diego Wild Animal Park is a few miles north of San Diego, but easily reached and well signposted. It has a huge parking area, so no problem there. When you enter the park, the first thing you should do is take the train ride round the park (included in the price of your ticket). By doing this first you get a really good overview of the park. Be aware that many of the animals you see on the [more...] -
Hearst Castle - San Simeon, United States of America
Spectacular building and even more spectacular pool (02.05.2007 23:13)
Hearst Castle is located between San Francisco and Los Angeles at San Simeon. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area or traveling down the Pacific Coast Highway. The castle itself is located high up on a hillside overlooking the Pacific coast. There are five tours you can choose from. We chose Experience Tour 1, recommended for first time visitors. Tours take approximately 1 hour and [more...] -
Historic Santa Maria Inn - Santa Maria, United States of America - July, 2004
History Revisited in Santa Maria (02.05.2007 22:59)
This hotel is in an excellent location if you are touring the Pacific Coast Highway as we were. It is a friendly, cosy and very inviting. The rooms are good sizes and well decorated with good amenities. The food is great and it is within walking distance of other eateries and shopping. [more...] -
San Diego Zoo - San Diego, United States of America
Very disappointing for both us and I suspect the animals (26.04.2007 00:26)
I do not normally like zoos very much as I prefer to see animals in natural environments, however as this zoo had such a good reputation, we gave it a go. I suppose I had built up a picture of what it would be like and based on the fact it's world famous, I assumed it would be one of the best. It isnt. Although the zoo is huge and has many animals, many of them in perfectly reasonable [more...] -
Paradise Point Resort & Spa - San Diego, United States of America - June, 2005
Paradise in San Diego (25.04.2007 23:48)
The hotel is called Paradise Point and it really does live up to its name. There is simply nothing to fault about the place from the accommodation to the beach. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. You can chill out and relax or enjoy the many activities, the choice is yours! [more...] -
Sundance Helicopter Tours - Las Vegas, United States of America
Flighing high over the Grand Canyon (25.04.2007 00:56)
Whilst in the Grand Canyon area, we decided to take a helicopter flight. We were spending our last night back in Vegas, so booked a trip leaving there. The trip we chose included limousine pickup from our hotel, flights by Sundance Helicopters, landing in the canyon with picnic and return flight to Vegas. We chose the 6pm flight as we though we might be lucky enough to see the sunset. We [more...] -
Lake Mead - Las Vegas, United States of America
This attraction is dam good! (25.04.2007 00:23)
We drove to the Hoover Dam from Vegas and it was a very easy and straightforward drive (40 mins). Parking was pretty easy as there was a large multi story car park just before the dam itself. We arrived early so there were plenty of spaces, but when we left the car park was near full, so it pays to get there early. You can do one of two things. You can just wander around the site, into the [more...] -
Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas, United States of America - July, 2003
This hotel needs a genie to spice it up (25.04.2007 00:07)
If you want to visit Vegas and get the Vegas glitz then the Aladdin may not be your best option. Many of the other hotels go much more overboard with the room themes etc. If you want a simple, comfortable room, then this is fine. I personally would not recommend the Aladdin, there are much better hotels in Vegas such as the Luxor. The Desert Passage is worth a visit and I would also [more...]
