The Natal Sharks Board is an unique institution which focuses on the research and conservation of sharks as well as the prevention of shark attacks. Replicas of various species are on display and visitors can view a shark dissection as well as an audio-visual presentation. Shows are presented at 09h00 and 14h00 from Tuesday to Thursday and at 14h00 on Sundays. Facilities include a curio shop which, along with the display venue, are open on weekdays from 08h00 to 16h00 and on Sundays from 13h00 to 16h00. At present more than 400 nets are spread along 250km of coast and it is possible to participate in a 2-hour boat trip when the shark nets along the Golden Mile are serviced. The boats depart daily at around 06h30 from Wilson's Wharf and booking is essential. Cost is roughly 20 Euro per person and 6-12 persons are allowed per trip. |
