The Tiepolo Frescoes in Glorious Colour

, 30/06/2010] The main reason for wanting to visit Udine was to see the Tiepolo frescoes which are housed in several locations, but particularly those in the Palazzo Patriarcale (the Patriarchal Palace), which is now the Diocesan Museum and the seat of the Bishop of Udine. Attached to the palace building is the 18th century Church of Saint Anthony the Abbott; this can only be visited during special exhibitions. Giambattista Tiepolo was born in Venice and worked not only there but in Udine and also in Spain and Germany. He was best known for his frescoes painted in the high baroque style. Those in Tiepolo
