The only Toy Museum in the North East, this museum houses a large collection of toys that will appeal to children and adults alike. It is located in the Palace Building in Tynemouth. As well as displaying a large collection of toys, it also houses a toy hospital where you can take your toys to be repaired.

The headland at the mouth of the River Tyne has always a site of defence against the invader. It has also been a religious site since the seventh century when St Oswin, King of Northumbria was buried in the monastery. A Benedictine priory was built on the site in about 1100AD within which was built the priory church one hundred years later. Collingwood Monument

Cuthbert Collingwood was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1748. He joined the navy in 1761 and saw action in the American War of Independence and in the Napoleonic Wars. He rose through the ranks and as Admiral Collingwood he was Nelsons second in command at the battle of Trafalgar. He died at sea in 1810.
