    Hammamet Medina - Hammamet, Tunisia
Traders get lost, in Medina (22.01.2008 18:04)
The Medina is located beside the sea and close to the modern town center of Hammamet, compared to other Medina's in Tunisia this is small but you can still get lost around the maze of twisting alleyways. To enter the Medina just walk along the 15th century walls until you come to a gap in the wall, there are quite a few ways in which is good as that means there is quite a few ways out. I never [more...]

Shaka - Port el Kantaoui, Tunisia
Entertainment the African way (22.12.2007 16:04)
The Shaks restaurant is located outside the Friguia Park and is built to look like an African hut. We went on a organised trip with the tour company, which seemed to be how most guests at the restaurant got there. The entertainment for the night was traditional African dancing and music from Zulus and Tunisian folk music and dancing. The food is served during the entertainment and is a six [more...]

Anfiteatro de El Jem - El Djem, Tunisia
    A jem in the wilderness (20.12.2007 22:28)
We visited El Jem as part of a coach tour to different attractions around Tunisia. For me this had to be the highlight of the tour. El Jem is a Roman amphitheatre which is in better condition than the one in Rome and almost as big. The Colosseum was thought to hold up to 30000 - 45000 people at any on time. On the road towards El Jem the amphitheatre can be seen from a distance and the closer [more...]

Friguia - Port el Kantaoui, Tunisia
    Animal world (16.07.2007 18:40)
We went to Friguia Park which is Tunisia's first wildlife park on an excursion with Thomson. The zoo is located about 35 km from Hammamet just off GP1 Route De Sousse. It is best to get a map and this will guide you around the zoo so you do not miss any of the animals. The map takes you on a trail that has good paths past African huts and wood sculptures of African men carrying spears all to [more...]

    Friday Market - Nabeul, Tunisia
    The aroma's of Nabeul market. (15.07.2007 13:27)
This trip was an organised excursion with Thomson holidays from our hotel in Hammamet. Nabeul is about 7 miles from Hammamet .Our coach dropped us outside the train station so if travelling independently you can come by train. The walk to the market was about 5 minutes up a straight road so not much chance of getting lost here. Nabeul market used to be famous for its camal trading but now [more...]

RIU Park El Kebir Hammamet - Hammamet, Tunisia - January, 2007
Tunisian hospitality in style (10.07.2007 17:56)
This is a very well presented hotel. Ramps and lifts are in place to help disabled guests. It is not my usual choice as I like small family run hotels on a B&B board as we like eaten out in different restaurants. For us a week was enough but for someone who likes all inclusive packages you can do no wrong with this hotel. [more...]
