, 20/06/2010] Hotel Alabarda is in the historic part of Trieste. Do not take a taxi from the station - this would involve the intricate one way system and cost a fortune when the hotel is just two minutes walk away. The hotel looks promising from the outside; you go in through a wrought iron gate and up two flights of stairs to reception (there is a lift). Sadly, the interior has been cleared of nearly all the original features and is a little bland although the decor is tasteful and simple and in good repair.
