Despite my fear of heights, I wouldnt have missed the opportunity to go up the CN Tower.
The Canadian National Tower in Toronto is still the worlds tallest building standing an impressive 553m high and has the worlds largest revolving restaurant inside although we didnt fancy the idea of eating as we spun round and round! I exaggerate just slightly as it takes 72 minutes for the restaurant to revolves all the way around once.
Tickets were fairly pricey and depend on which parts of the tower you want to access, further up, more expensive. The main viewing deck was high enough for us so we headed towards the elevator, video camera at the ready and waited...and waited some more...then finally, were guided into the glass floored, glass walled elevator (much to mr yummy mummyxs horror...) and braced ourselves. The lift takes just 60 second to reach the top and it really is a bizarre feeling to watch the ground and surroundings fall away from you at such rapid speed!
Stepping out knees a bit wobbly, we headed for the interior viewing deck at 346m and the panoramic views were stunning. On a clear day, its possible to see as far as Niagara Falls! I braved the exterior lookout too but be warned; its very very windy up there so I soon retreated back into the comfort of inside.
The famous glass floor is on this level also so had to have a look and despite the rational part of my brain telling me it was perfectly safe to walk the glass, and it didnt matter that I was 343m high, I could still barely bring myself to put a toe out! The view down through the glass floor is the Rogers Centre, an all weather baseball stadium.
Back down to ground level and theres the usual tourist shops and a cafe as well as galleries displaying information about the tower and its construction but a fab experience and cant wait to be terrified all over again soon!
