If you are lucky enough to visit Toronto then you must go to CN Tower. CN Tower is not just an icon but it plays a very important part as a telecommunications hub of Toronto. It stands tall at 553.33m and by no surprise hoards of tourists choose to visit the tower every year, around 2 million tourists to be precise. The tower was built in 1976 by Canadian National, thus the name CN. It was made with the intention that it would be the worlds tallest tower. CN Tower is situated at the heart of the entertainment disrict and is very easily accessible by the tube and by car, which is how we got there. We actually chose to go there late evening as there would not be so many tourists at that time and we could enjoy being there more, minus the bustling crowds and long queues.
There are 4 lookout levels but not surprisingly everyone wants to get to the highest point, the Sky Pod which is the worlds highest observation desk at a mind boggling 447 m, in order to get the best view, a 360 degree view of the city. In the journey to the top of the tower you come across the Glass Floor and Outdoor Observation Deck. Looking below from the Glass floor does make you a bit wobbly and makes you feel a bit paranoid that you may slip through the glass and fall, obviously that would not happen but that is how you feel especially if you are scared of heights, like me! At 346 m you find the Horizons Café and the Indoor Observation Deck. The cafe sells refeshments and snacks. At 351 m is the award winning restaurant, aptly named 360 Restaurant, which gives guests a 360 degree of the city by rotating once every 72 minutes allowing you a complete and unobstructed view of the city below. Althougth the day that we went there the restaurant was closed. If you would prefer to take the stairs to the top then you will not be disappointed because there are endless flights if stairs! We much rather prefered to take the bullet fast lift up to the top.
After you have done all the observing you can also go back down to the base of the Tower for arcade games, motion simulator rides and to see the To The Top movie. Also there is a gift shop, my favourite part, which is lacated a ground level, here you can find miniature CN Towers for you to buy as souveniers and other gifts. On the way up to the top you can also have a digital picture taken of yourself and whoever you are visiting with which you can collect after you have been to the top and finished your visit. The picture is of you standing alongside the CN Tower. Quite a nice momento for you to take home.
A very memorable experience and one that is highly reccommended, after all if you have been to Toronto and have not been to the CN Tower then where have you been!!!
