[16/09/2007] The CN Tower is the "tallest freestanding tower in the world" and was opened in 1976. The building itself "weighs 130,000 tons."
We are advised that this attraction is "worth a visit if the weather is clear, despite the steep fee." Inside the CN Tower there are "Six glass-front elevators" and we are informed that they "zoom up the outside of the tower" and "travel at 20 feet per second and the ride takes less than a minute." Speaking about the elevator, we are told that each one "has one floor-to-ceiling glass wall."
There are four observation decks which include the Glass Floor Level which is "about 1,122 feet above the ground" and the experience here is described as being like "walking on a cloud." Here, visitors can "lie on the transparent floor and have your picture taken from above like countless before you."
Further up the building is the Look Out Level which covers two floors and has an "excellent 360 Revolving Restaurant." Above the Look Out Level is the Sky Pod which is "the world's highest public observation gallery" and here visitors can see "spectacular panoramic views of Toronto, Lake Ontario, and the Toronto Islands."
The Ground Level on this attraction includes the Marketplace at the Tower which is "12,500 square feet of shopping space." There is also a cafe and a cinema "which screens the 15-minute documentary To the Top, about the building of the Tower." There is a Themed Arcade which has "the latest in virtual-game experiences." A popular attraction here is the Thrill Zone where "digital animation allows you to experience the thrill -- without the risk -- of bungee jumping, hang gliding, or tightrope walking from the top of the CN Tower" to the buildings that are nearby.
The article concludes by giving opening times and prices for this attraction and we are informed that "peak visiting hours are 11 to 4, particularly on weekends."
