Many cities boast follies, but Frommer's says the one in Toronto is "unusually charming " with its "Elizabethan-style chimneys, Rhineland turrets, secret passageways" and a "mellifluous name: Casa Loma." It was built by Sir Henry Pellatt between 1911 and 1914 and we are told he "gathered materials and furnishings from around the world" including "teak from Asia" and also "marble, glass, and paneling from Europe". The Casa Loma was "commissioned by Sir Henry Pellatt" who was both "a soldier and financier, who picked up architectural ideas from some of Europe's finest mansions" meaning that Casa Loma is a "European-style castle." Inside, there are "98 rooms, 2 towers, creepy passageways, and lots of secret panels." This attraction was built by "E. J. Lennox who also designed Toronto's Old City Hall and the King Edward Hotel."
