Hampton Inn Cortland Ny - Cortland, United States of America - July, 2008
Decent hotel but still lacking (20.07.2008 01:17)
A reasonably new hotel that is clean and comfortable, but lacked in some areas. Probably still one of the better ones in this town. [more...]

    Parliament Hill - Ottawa, Canada
Stunning location in Ottawa (02.06.2008 20:40)
Although I live only 200 km away from Ottawa I had never before been there until recently when we had relatives visiting us from the UK. As part of their intro to Canada trip we took them to Ottawa for a couple of days and boy were we shocked at how fantastic the city was. In particular Parliament Hill is just the best place to be. The architecture is fantastic, the scenery great and it is all [more...]

Excellent hotel a bus ride from city centre (01.06.2008 19:53)
Although located away from the city, this hotel offers excellent amenities and is only a short bus journey from Ottawa city centre. Well worth staying here if you don't mind crossing the road and hopping on a bus for 15 minutes to get the city centre. [more...]

Gillette Castle State Park - East Haddam, United States of America
    Gillette Castle (30.03.2008 19:05)
Gillette Castle is located in East Haddam in Connecticut, and I can thoroughly recommend a visit. This is a truly amazing place and was originally built not as a castle, but as a home for William Hooker Gillette, an actor who was most famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. He was, in fact, the person who made the Holmes look famous, with the deerstalker hat and pipe, etc. The state of [more...]

Algonquin Provincial Park - Algonquin Park, Canada
    Absolutely stunning (17.02.2008 18:41)
Algonquin Provincial Park is simply stunning. Because we now live quite close (2 hr drive) we have been here on a few occasions at different times of the year. The park is great because it can be appreciated by just about anyone, you don't even have to get out your car if you don't want to. The first time we visited we actually had no intention of going there, we just went on a drive. Looking [more...]

Portland Observatory - Portland, United States of America
An inland lighthouse in New England (10.02.2008 20:51)
The Portland Observatory is located about 5 blocks from the harbour. It is built like an inland lighthouse and is a very interesting building. They offer walking tours of the building, which we did not feel was strictly necessary, as we could have done a self-guided tour just as easily. You do, however, get to ask lots of questions, and the guides are very knowledgeable about the observatory [more...]

Mohawk Trail - Leominster, United States of America
Lovely scenic drive through the centre of Massachusetts (10.02.2008 20:31)
The Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts is a pleasant 63-mile drive along Route 2. We picked up the drive at Leominster and followed it through to North Adams near the New York and Vermont boarders. You travel through lots of little towns and villages and the scenery is lovely. We were there in the summer, so all the trees were green, but this must be lovely in the fall when the foliage is in full [more...]

Embassy Suites Atlanta - at Centennial Olympic Park - Atlanta, United States of America - July, 2007
Central location for visiting Atlanta (10.02.2008 20:07)
This is an excellent hotel to use as a base in Atlanta. You can park you car in the car-park and forget about it as everything can be accessed either on foot, or by local transport. It is next to the Centennial Park with all its own attractions as well as being the centre of the action on July 4th (Independence Day). It is also all suite so you get good size rooms with separate bedrooms for [more...]

    Eaton Centre - Toronto, Canada
One of the best shopping centres in Toronto (10.02.2008 19:42)
The Eaton Centre Toronto is a large shopping mall located in the heart of the city off Yonge Street. It also forms part of Torontos underground pedestrian system PATH. It is a magnificent building with a glass roof making it bright and inviting, even in the winter. One of the features of the mall, apart from the shops of course is the display of Canada Geese suspended from the roof. This is a [more...]

Dizzy heights of Toronto (10.02.2008 19:31)
When you visit the CN Tower you can purchase several ticket types which take into account the different levels available on the tower as well as some additional entertainment. You ned to be aware of what each has to offer in order to choose the best ticket for yourself. The main observation deck is called The Lookout and this is where the best views are. There is also the Glass Floor which as [more...]
