My wife and I stayed at Hotel Villa Schuler in Taormina for a week this April. We found it to be very exceptional in every way. First, in Taomina, it's a good thing not to be on the Corso Umberto. It's crowded and noisy there. Villa Schuler is a 2 minute walk from Corso Umbero which is plenty close and instead overlooks the turquoise waters below. Its 4 or 5 story newly renovated building that has balconies in many of the rooms overlooking the sea or the garden. The rooms are spacious, clean and simple. We were welcomed with a complimentary basket of fruit and bottle of wine. We sat and had tea on the roof gazing out at the sea as the sun set. Beautiful!
Breakfast is included and isn't buffet style. There are plenty of options to start your day off nicely, Sicilian style (with German touches). There was no better value in Taormina for the room amenities, breakfast and service we received.
On top of all of this, the owners, Gehard and Christine, and the rest of the staff were there to cater to all that we required. One part of the our trip was focused on seeking out some of my Sicilian ansestors who had emigrated to the US 2 and 3 generations prior. Gehard went above and beyond the call of duty, helping me contact the state civil offices and then interpreting documentation we received after visiting those towns. It's was an amazing experience to find these documents and we couldn't have done it with out him.
We'd recommend Hotel Villa Schuler to anyone. What you will come away with is ab expreience of beautiful surroundings with family-friendly, profefssional yet non-corporate service. We thank the entire staff for such a great stay! Ciao!
