The author starts by saying he thinks the Sydney Opera House is "architecturally and culturally significant " and describes the buiding as being a "white-sailed construction". he also states that it "is a working building".
He states that most people "are surprised to learn it's not just an opera house, but a full-scale performing-arts complex" with "five major performance spaces."
He speaks of the perfromance spaces and provides information about each of them such as The Concert Hall which "has the best acoustics of any building of its type in the world." At the Opera House, visitors can expect to "experience opera, chamber music, symphonies, dance, choral performances, and even rock 'n' roll".
The author talks about the history of the Opera House and states "the project was controversial, with many Sydneysiders believing it was a monstrosity" and by the time the building was completed in 1973 "it had cost a staggering A$102 million ".
The author states that the buildings "long-overdue reconstruction is in progress" and the "tatty old reception hall has already been transformed into an impressive welcome room" as well as other reconstruction work.
The author cloncludes by giving details of tickets and the tours on offer at the Opera House and states that "prices vary depending on shows and dining venues".
