The author had a good impression of this hotel even before he reached the reception desk. He describes the building as "cavernous" and mentions that it still shows the "iron beams", timber and "floor-to-ceiling windows" of its "working class origins". The bar area is described as "Sydney at its most decadent". The author finds the lighting "seductive" and the seating "sumptuous". He informs us that the room was decorated in "chocolate" tones and had also "touches of cobalt blue" which contrast it. He says that the room was on "two levels" with a "large lounge" and the bathroom in the "loft" [more]
