Overrated but not entirely bad

, 10/11/2010] The Rocks are the oldest part of Sydney (this is "old" in Australian terms, of course), at some point a maze of rather dodgy alleyways dotted with pubs, a quarter where the wharfies and other port workers lived. Now it's an almost entirely gentrified and turistyfied area with plenty of eating and drinking places, numerous souvenir shops, and many swanky apartments converted from previous industrial buildings. It's not a bad place, and on the periphery of the area there is still some edginess, but don't go thinking you will find “authentic old Sydney there. What you will find is, rather, quit
