[more]Originally a coaching inn dating from the early part of the 18th century the Hambleton Inn was at the heart of the area's horse racing traditions. It stands on the Hambleton Plateau, which was once a famous natural racecourse second only to Newmarket. Its remote location however meant that racing events were eventually moved to York and Richmond in 1776.
Today, The Hambleton Inn stands on the route of the long distance walk, The Cleveland Way. It no longer provides accommodation but offers a range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and home cooked food.
