The writer rates the Staatsgallerie as the "finest art museum" in Stuttgart and notes that the works which are on display span "some 550 years". The most impressed he was by the "works of the German expressionists" of the 19th and 20th centuries and he found this collection to be "the best". Equally impressed he was by the "representatives of the Bauhaus school" and of the "Blue Rider group" which include "Klee and Feininger". He mentions that there are also "examples of French art" and works of the "European and American postwar avant-garde". All in all Frommers highly recommends a visit
