Article
[Fritzthecat, 13.02.2008] The author states that this is the "most interesting and the most photographed" of the Shakespeare houses in the area and thus rewards one star and highly recommends a visit. The birthplace of William Shakespeare's wife Anne is described as a "thatched, wattle-and-daub cottage" and the author recommends to "take some time" for the gardens and orchards also. He mentions that the building has been in the possession of the Hathaway family "until 1892" and was never renovated until then and barely altered since 18 year old William married Anne. Thus preserved it "provides a rare insight into the life of a family in Shakespearean times" and features "Many original furnishings". The author notes that the cottage is located ca 1.6 kms from the town centre and can be reached either by a "marked pathway" or by bus.
