[cassandra_the_cat, 03/06/2011] Sweden... what comes to mind? Most likely, IKEA will have convinced you that the blue-and-yellow country holds the key to providing the world with cheap furniture.
To experience Swedish class at its very, very best, treat yourself to a stay at the Diplomat. It may not be new and flashy and designy and sleek, but it spells Scandinavian grandeur, complete from the corteous (and most often also stunningly pretty) staff to the nice colour scheme of the rooms.

It is a stone-throw away from the city train station that is also the end point airport train Arlanda Express and the cheaper sister of the Nordic Light nearby. (When using terms like "cheap" and "budget", please remember we are talking about Sweden here, so don't get your hopes up too high).
Book well in advance, and in summer treat yourself to an experience of the famous Ice Bar.
[missmojo, 23/05/2011] Cozy french bistro with fantastic food. I had the chevre chaud and steak frites and loved both!
[raisinghanid, 23/04/2011] Had a lunch here. We went in for a buffet which comprises Mongolian and Asian cuisine. Taste is exquisite, although is a bit expensive. Among the chinese and japanese dishes, you can select the raw pieces of chicken, fish, pork, beef that you want, select the sauces and the chef will cook them for you.
[MycketM, 30/03/2011] My sister and I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights in the summer, it was without a doubt the best hostel we had ever stayed at so far! Very well equipped, especially the big common room and the kitchen! The kitchen is big and has several stoves, ovens, fridges and sinks. Everybody leaves it in really good conditions, so it's really clean and no problem to cook there. The big common room provides many many tables where you can eat and a separate area to relax.
The rooms were nice too, with bunk beds, a table, chairs and lockers. Bathroom facilities were just as clean as the kitchen, many sepe

[jipp05, 27/01/2011] Being interested in modern art I wanted to visit the Moderna Museet on my visit to Stockholm especially when I found out that the permanent collection housed such artists as Warhol, Picasso, Dali and Matisse.
The museum is located on the island of Skeppsholmen across the water from Djurgarden which we found easy to get to by using the hop on hop off boats but there is also a bridge linking it to the city which you can either walk (which we did on the way back when we missed the last boat) or bike along.
The museum is housed in a large industrial looking building which looks like a factory f

If you are coming by boat you will dock at Grona Lunds amusement park. The amusement park is very old fashioned in a nostalgic way and you can spend either an afternoon here going on the rides ojust soaking up the atmosphere with a drink at one of the many bars and restaurants.
When you exit the park the next attraction is the Aquarium in which we spent a fun hour or so, it isn't large so you won't need al

[jipp05, 24/01/2011] The Aquaria in Stockholm was another attraction we visited becuse we were in the area and it was included free with our Stockholm card. It was also the first thing we passed after getting off the boat at Djurgarden island where it is located.
The building looks quite small from the outside so we weren't really expecting to see a great deal and to be honest the Aquaria museum doesn't really contain a huge amount of sea life but it is still worth a visit. As it is on Djurgarden it is easy to get to and will be on your way to the Vasa museum or Skansen.
When you go in you can go up some stair

Covering an area of over 75 acres you will need to leave a least a few hours to be able to fully appreciate this wonderful place.
You are given a map when you enter which believe me you will need as the place is massive and it is easy to wander about trying to find a particular part of it.
Skansen houses a recreation of a traditional Swedish village from the 1800's and this is a real highlight. The detail is absolutely incredible and the houses are absolutely fascin

[jipp05, 08/01/2011] The Nordic museum is located on the island of Djurgarden in Stockholm and specilises in showing different parts of Scandanavian life throughout the ages.
To be honest the only reason that we visited this museum was because it was included in the list of museums that were free to enter with the Stockholm card and we were on Djurgarden anyway visiting the Vasa museum.
First impressions of the outside were good as the museum is housed in an amazing castle like building and looked really impressive.
When we entered we just had to flash our cards and were given tickets and asked if we wanted a

[jipp05, 08/01/2011] We found the museum of Medieval Stockholm by chance on our last day in Stockholm whilst we were wandering by the water waiting for the time to go get the bus to the airport. I am glad we found this hidden little gem as it turned out to be one of my favourite places we visited in our time in Stockholm.
I didn't even know there was a medieval museum as it wasn't mentioned in the guidebook I had or in the book I had received from the tourist information centre. You can find it under the Norrbro Bridge that is one of the main bridges next to the parliment building on the way to Gamla Stan. It is

[jipp05, 06/01/2011] When visiting Stockholm I was looking for a nice but reasonably priced hotel. Now as anyone who has visited Stockholm before will know reasonably priced is not really an expression that you would use with the Swedish capital.
Looking through Booking.com there were a few hotels that looked nice and were reasonably priced but when I clicked on them to check the room they would have available would be the size of a cupboard and contain bunkbeds and have no windows. This wasn't really the type of holiday that I was hoping to have. Just when I was about to give up and raise my budget I stumbled ac

[jipp05, 06/01/2011] For those people who haven't been to Stockholm it is an amazing city and definitely in my top 5 favourite cities. It is absolutely beautiful and thanks to it being built on a series on islands it has the nickname of the Venice of the north and although I can see why it has this name in my opinion Stockholm is far more beautiful. As you would expect from a Scandinavian country it is incredibly clean and I don't think I saw one piece of graffiti in my time there. The people were friendly and their level of English was far better than I have experienced in some English cities.

[jipp05, 04/01/2011] The Vasa museum in Stockholm was one of the sights that I was most looking forward to visiting on my trip to the city. Unfortunately it was one of the sights that left me feeling the most disspointed and underwhelmed.
The Vasa museum contains the only intact 17th century Swedish warship in existence. the museum itself is an extension of the Swedish maritime museum but with the ship being so huge it is housed in it's very own building which is located on the island of Djurgarden.
According to the museum it is the most visited museum in the whole of Scandanavia and judging from the lines of p

[RickSteel, 16/11/2010] I liked this hostel. The location is good and close to the Globe Arena where there was a censert which was the main purpose for me for going to Stockholm in the first place.
It was also close to public transportations although I belive it's somewhat longer then the 100 meter they say it is to the metro station. It was more like 200 meter which isn't far at all so I don't know why they don't correct that on their website. Anyhow... It was close to good pubs and great party.
I wasn't so much for seeing Stockholm as I only whent for a consert and as the weather wasn't too good. Good was on an

[CarRace, 12/11/2010] Nice bedding, a small flat sceen TV, wardrobe, desk, chair etc - I was impressed how much stuff was in such a tiny room (single). The sauna was great, I booked it every morning so I can use a bigger shower there. Receptionists were very frindly and helpfull. The bar - so-so.
[speedbunny, 19/12/2009] The Scandic Anglais is a modern hotel in the heart of Stockholm offering a range of rooms for every budget, including those who are looking for a bargain.
The economy cabin rooms have no windows, but offer a large comfortable single bed, a decent sized desk if you need to work, and free wi-fi and cable television is included in the price.
The hotel bar gets very busy on the weekend, packed with residents and non-residents enjoying a DJ playing chilled dance music. The mid-range restaurant offers a selection of traditional Scandic fare - reindeer is on the menu.
The best price I could fin

They got two restaurants and both serve the best kebab in town the one in Hornsgatan has two floors.
Secret tip: call the staff "brother" and you´ll get extra everything on! ;-)
[stockholmdude, 12/07/2009] Nice place, clean, classy facility. Good treatments. A city spa, not necessarily a Zen getaway.
