The House on the Hill Toy Museum is located in Stansted Mountfitched, directly next to Mountfitched Castle. It is home to the largest privately-owned toy collection in Europe and features more than 80.000 exhibits. Originally we had planned to visit Mountfitched Castle and I didn't even know that there was a toy museum right next to it both attractions can be visited with a combined ticket. [more...]

Mountfitched Castle is the replica of a castle and Norman village that had been built here in 1066. The original castle was destroyed during a attack in the early 13th century and there is hardly anything left of it as the stones had been taken by the people from the village to built new houses.
