The Forth Road Bridge opened in 1964 and spans the Firth of Forth, connecting South Queensferry near Edinburgh with North Queensferry in Fife. It is 2512 metres long and the fourth longest suspension bridge in the world. It carries motor vehicles and pedestrians whilst a railway bridge runs alongside it.
