Palacio de Pena, or Castelo da Pena as it is more commonly known, dates back to 1839. It stands high up on the peaks of Serra de Sintra. The castle is full of Moorish, Gothic and Manueline motifs of Portuguese art. Opening hours are 10.00 - 17.30 and the price of 7 euros includes admission to the nearby Pena Park. The castle is closed on Mondays. |
