This site puts Shiskine Golf Club at number 27 in its top 100 golf courses in the world and describes it as "one of the most unusual" in their list. Unusual firstly in being a twelve-hole links. This is for historical reasons, as having started out in 1896 "as a nine-hole layout", the course was then extended to 18, with six of the new holes falling "into neglect" during the First World War which led to today's quite unique layout.
