The Rother Valley Country Park lies on the South Yorkshire and Derbyshire border between Sheffield and Rotherham. It covers an area of 740 acres which consists of lakes, woodlands and open spaces. Description: Rother Valley Country Park was formed from wasteland created from the result of open cast coal mining. This park covers an area of 740 acres, which consists of lakes, woodlands and open spaces.
It is the principal locality in the region for a wide range of different watersports and there is also a golf course here, a nature reserve and fishing lakes.
Entry into the park for pedestrians is free and there are several car parks on its perimetre but there is a charge of £3 (4.5 Euros) to enter with a car.
