Within the woods there are several charcoal heaths known as Q-Pits, there is also a gravestone known as the charcoal burner's grave and an unusual prehistoric stone that contains cup and ring markings, dating from the late Neolithic or Bronze Age period this was discovered in 1981 and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
