Frommers starts by describing the flair of the Fairmont as "classically elegant", comparing the hotel with an "Italian Renaissance palace". The lobby is the "grandest" one of Seattle, according to the author. Many of the guest rooms are all "very elegant" though more on the smaller side; that's why Frommers recommends to book one of the many suites of the hotel (however mentioning that the deluxe suites are "not much bigger" than the deluxe rooms). The restaurant is seen as "the most elegant" one of the city; "creative" Northwest and Continental food is served there. Frommers points out that the Fairmont "can't be beat" for "plush surroundings", an "excellent" service level and "great" amenities. Frommers rates the Fairmont with 3 Frommers stars ("Frommer's Exceptional"), their top rating for hotels.
