oldwasp about Scarborough Castle
Scarborough castle brings back childhood memories for me as this was the first castle I ever visited. Our family summer holiday for many years was staying in a B&B at Scarborough. The two week holiday was spent playing on the beach, visiting Peasholme Park for the boating lake, tree walk and the naval warfare battle and the castle. We didn't always go into the castle, we usually played where the moat used to be which has a large grassed area with a children's play ground. Here we could play cricket, football, tennis and fly our kites without disturbing to many people.[...]
