Minsmere is one of over 200 nature reserves in Britain managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). Established in 1948 it is also one of Britain's oldest nature reserves. Description: Established in 1948, Minsmere Nature Reserve was the first nature reserve in Britain to be managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. It was set up as a conservation area to protect its habitat of reed beds and shallow lagoons, which were the breeding grounds of some of the UK's rarest birds including Marsh Harriers, Bittern, Bearded Tits and Avocet. Today Minsmere Nature Reserve attracts around 100,000 visitors every year.

Admission onto the reserve is free for RSPB members, but there is a charge for non-members which is:
Adults - £5.00 (7.5 Euros)
Concessions - £3.00 (4.5 Euros)
Children - £1.50 (2.25 Euros)
Family ticket - £10.00 (15 Euros)

The reserve is open daily from 9am until dusk. Facilities include a car park, visitor centre, shop and toilets that are fully equipped for disabled visitors.
