The Hort del Viver rural house was originally an old granary situated in the outskirts of Sant Jordi in the Baix Maestrat district (Castelln). It is built in the centre of 22,000 metres of land, with mainly olive trees. There are also other types of trees such as almonds, carobs, figs, lemon, khakis, pomegranates, laurels, pepper trees, lime trees, a magnificent Judas tree and a lovely palm tree, as well as aromatic plants such as the lemon beebrush and sage, all of which delight those who enjoy the products that have just been picked from the trees. In summer, next to the house, we can enjoy the superb shade offered by some hundred-year-old pine trees. The terrace is an old threshing floor which has been wonderfully preserved; next to this is the VIVER (a Valencian word which means the place where they store the water), from where the farmland gets its name. Sant Jordi stands out thanks to its privileged situation because its just 11Km far from the coast, that is to say, one will have quietness at 10 minutes from the sea.Its landscape is formed of crops for dry farming, such as carob trees, almond trees, olive trees and there are also some pine-tree woods which invite you to enjoy nature in its pure state. When we walk around the village we can see a great deal of stone doorways, balconies and iron grilles which preserve the traditional heritage.
