The author says that the Coit Tower is situated "atop Telegraph Hill". It is a "round, stone tower" and from here one has "panoramic views" of San Francisco and the bay. In the author's opinion, it is "one of the best" vantage points of the city. It was built in 1933 and inside the tower one can see "impressive murals". The admission is free but to go to the top it costs $3.75. One disadvantage is that the street that leads to the Coit Tower is "often clogged with tourist traffic" and therefore the author recommends to park in North Beach. Frommers very highly recommends it.
