The Villa Florence in San Francisco is located "in one of the liveliest sections of the city". It is located in front of "the Powell Street cable car line" just "1/2 block south of Union Square". This hotel was renovated in 2004 which "brightened up the reasonably affordable rooms". However, the author points out that "the hotel itself is old and the structure looks it" even though it has "freshly applied lipstick and powder". This is not important as "everything here is nice enough".
The Villa Florence now "provides guests (with) a taste of contemporary Italian decor". This includes "new cherrywood furniture" plus accessories "such as 27-inch flatscreen TVs with DVD players (with DVDs upon request) and CD players.".
The rooms are equipped with "large, comfortable beds " which are "draped in down comforters with Frette duvets". There are also "Frette bathrobes, and umbrellas" as well as "Aveda bath products".
The restaurant here "helps make it a worthy contender among Union Square's medium-priced inns " but if you wish to eat elsewhere then "one of downtown's most bustling and stylish Italian restaurants", Kuleto's is located adjacent.
This hotel is very highly recommended by Frommers as indicated by the author's two star rating.
