The magazine lists the San Francisco St. Regis hotel in its "Hot List 2006". The article mentions teh hotel's "sleek design and sceney foyer" and argues that it is focused as much "on substance as on style", picking up "where the 'chic boutiques' of the 1990's left off". The bedrooms of the St. Regis which stretches in the lower half of a 40-storey skyskraper are said to be "among the largest in the city" and "intelligently hi-tech". The rooms, decorated in leather and pale wood, offer "panoramic views" of San Franscisco's downtown or the "deep blue bay". The article also mentions an "extensive modern-art collection" inspired by the proximity to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. On the downside the writer of the article found chef Hirone Sone's cuisine "slightly muddled and pricey" and that it seemded that some of the stuff "were still learning the ropes". Nevertheless the author concludes with the statement that the St. Regis "mixes urban sophistication with old-world service" and recommends to book Grand Deluxe King rooms which have "large work areas positioned to make most of the floor-to-ceiling windows".
