[micksheff, 31.07.2007] The author says of the Four Seasons hotel in San Francisco that this is "one of my favorites in the city ". This statement is based on its ability to combine "elegance, trendiness, and modern luxury". The entrance to the hotel is "deceptively underwhelming" and is located "either off Market (street) or through a narrow alley off Third Street". Inside the hotel the lobby is described as "calm, cool, and collected hotel perfection" and the cocktail lounge is described as being "sexy" with its "dark mood lighting" and "comfy leather chairs" as well as "a great wine and cocktail list". All of these features and "a pianist playing jazz" there too. The rooms are described as being "just right". They are said to be "Not too trendy, not too traditional". These rooms have "custom-made mattresses and pillows" and "beautiful works of art". The "luxury marble bathrooms" are "huge" and have "deep tubs and L'Occitane toiletries". The décor is "of taupe, beige, and green" which is described as being "almost as soothing as the superfluous service". The majority of the larger rooms "overlook Yerba Buena Gardens".
This hotel is rated as exceptional by Frommers as indicated by the authors three star rating.
