Hotel Salvadonica - Borgo del Chianti San Casciano in Val di Pesa
Florentine sisters Francesca and Beatrice Baccetti eagerly accepted the challenge of converting the family’s country home and vineyards into an efficient bed and breakfast. Restoration work began immediately on the two adjacent stone buildings dating back to 1300. All original architectural features were preserved, leaving the five guestrooms and eleven apartments (for two to four people) with terracotta brick floors, wood-beamed ceilings, and mansard roofs, and many with generous views over the tranquil Tuscan countryside. The very comfortable and tidy rooms are furnished with good reproductions in country style and feel almost hotel-like with their telephones, modern bathrooms, air conditioning, Tv and mini-bar. A beautiful swimming pool with hydro-massage, tennis court, fitness room, and nearby horse stables are at guests’ disposal, although finding enough to do is hardly a problem with Florence only 18 kilometers away and practically all of Tuscany at one’s fingertips. Breakfast is served at wooden tables in the stone-walled dining room or out on the terrace. Restaurant with typical Tuscan dishes for lunch and dinner. Readers give Salvadonica a high rating for service and warm hospitality.
