Description:	Thrybergh Country Park covers 47 acres and is located about 5KM to the north west of Rotherham and 14KM to the west of Doncaster. At the centre of this park lies Thrybergh Reservoir, created in 1880 to provide a supply of fresh drinking water to the region. Unfortunately the reservoir never met the demands that were put on it and as a reservoir it was no longer viable by the middle of the last century. In September 2000 Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council purchased Thrybergh Reservoir from Yorkshire Water for the token price of £1 and created the country park that we find today. Today, Thrybergh Country Park is a haven for wildlife and is especially noted for its bird life, over 200 different species of birds have been recorded here. Access to the park is free and it is open all year round. Facilities include a car park, a visitors centre and a cafe.
