Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Watergarden

Fountains Abbey is a former Cistercian Monastery that was founded in the year 1132. It is one of the best preserved examples of its kind in the UK. The site, along with the adjacent Studley Royal Water Garden is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Monastery is also a Grade 1 listed building. Ripon Cathedral

There has been a church on the cathedral site since the 8th century; but it wasn't until 1836 that the building as we see it today became a cathedral. The cathedral is open daily to the public and a donation of £3 is suggested. There is a gift shop and a museum. If you wish to take photographs or film inside then you do need to purchase a permit for a small fee.

Lightwater Valley

As well as being a theme park, Lightwater Valley also incorporates a Shopping Village and Bird of Prey Centre. The theme park is open mostly throughout the summer, although it does open for parts of September and October as well. It opens at 10am and closes from 4.30pm depending on the time of year. Ripon Racecourse

Ripon Racecourse is located just outside of Ripon centre and is open to adults and children accompanied with adults. The racing can be viewed from the grandstand / paddock, race enclosure, club stand and a large screen TV placed on the course enclosure. Facilities include bars, restaurants and snack vans, bets can be placed at various locations around the course. The course can also be used for corporate events and functions. Ripon Spa Baths

The Edwardian Ripon Spa baths still has its original architecture and decor. In addition to a swimming pool, you will find a sauna, sunbeds and massage on offer in the Battenburg Health Suite. There is a vending machine for refreshments and very limited parking is available.
