Description Shard Riverside
This modern/traditional village inn has undergone a transformation in recent years, the latest changes being an extension to the front of the inn and the addition of eight brand new en-suite rooms. From the restaurant, diners can watch the world drift by whilst sampling the Shards wonderful upmarket pub food. All the food is freshly prepared in-house and you can choose from the daily, evening or specials menus. All rooms are non-smoking
A River Explorer Cruise lasts approximately 50 minutes and not only affords visitors the opportunity to discover the waterfront which has been declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site, but can also be combined with visits to other attractions such as Spaceport and Play Planet in Seacombe, effectively making it a day trip. A visit to the Woodside Café in Birkenhead is also an option.
Departures are on the hour from 10h00 till 15h00 on weekdays, extended until 18h00 on weekends. Tariffs and recommended itineraries as well as details of events and special cruises can be found at the website.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Liverpool Airport is one of the oldest in the UK, having been officially opened in 1933. It was renamed Liverpool John Lennon Airport in 2001 when extensive refurbishment was undertaken, and a statue of Lennon is in the main passenger walkway. It is the first airport in the UK to be named after an individual.
The airport now handles more than 5 million passengers a year with scheduled services to 69 UK and Europe destinations. Holiday charter flights increase the traffic in the summer season. Two of Europe's largest low-cost airlines - easyJet and Ryanair - use Liverpool as a base.
Motorway links are close to the airport and regular bus services operate to the centres of Liverpool and Manchester, and surrounding towns. Liverpool city centre is only 7 miles.
The terminal provides the usual range of shops, taxis and car hire outlets, as well as a conference centre on site. Wi-fi has recently been introduced throughout. The terminal is often used for art and photography exhibitions.
The Friends of Liverpool Airport provide tours of the airport (bookable in advance) which consist of a 45 minute presentation of the history of the airport and a one hour walking tour of the facilities.
Dexters Grill and Bar
Dexters is a large restaurant located on the upper floor of the Orient food court in the Trafford Centre.
It is a two floor restaurant serving a variety of dishes which includes steaks, chilli, and burgers. They also serve a wide variety of deserts.
Reservations can be made or you can turn up but during busy periods there may be a queue for a table.
The restaurant serves a variety of drinks and has it has its own bar where the drinks list is quite extensive and includes cocktails, soft drinks, beers, spirits and hot beverages.

Saturday: 10.00 - 23.00
Sunday: 10.00 - 22.30
The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction
After a recent expansion and refurbishment this attraction brings the characters of all 23 of the Beatrix Potter stories to life in the form of tableaux and statues and utilising music, lighting and sound effects and smells. Highlights include "Peter Rabbit's garden" which follows him through the garden gate, "Jemima's Adventures" in the woodland glade and "Mr. McGregor's Greenhouse".
A virtual tour guides the visitor around the parts of the Lake District which inspired the author. Simultaneous translations into French, Dutch, Chinese and Japanese are presented. The Tailor of Gloucester Tea Room serves family and children's menus hosted by Simpkin the Cat and an "army of mice". There is also a gift shop selling a wide range of themed merchandise.
Group discounts are available and there are car parks in the vicinity. Drop off facilities are also available for the disabled.
