The International Airport (PSIA) is located in Point Salines, on the southern point of the Island, about 7 miles away from the city of St.George's. The airport is easy accessible by car, taxi and mini busses. Short and long term parking is provided by a private car park alongside the terminal. Cost is about EC$ 2 per hour and EC$ 6 per day. Airport facilities include a number of shops, restaurant, and snack bars. A number of car rental companies are represented and there is a tourist information center from the ministry of Tourism at the Arrival Hall. Very important for visitors who leave the island, PSIA charges a departure tax of EC$ 50.00 (Adults) and EC$ 25.00 (Children 5 - 12 years), children under 5 years are exempted from the tax. Most accommodations can be reached in 5-10 minutes by taxi. Grenadians call the airport "PSIA - GATEWAY TO THE WORLD", since the airport provides schedule and charter flights to major destinations in the United States, Germany, England and other Caribbean islands. |
