Description:	The Hansa Powerade Dusi Canoe Marathon is held mid-January each year and is a 3-day canoe or kayak marathon which covers a distance of 125 km from Pietermaritzburg along the Msunduzi and Umgeni rivers. The route winds through the Valley of a Thousand Hills where traditional villages are still found and includes various rapids and portages of up to 15km. Dating from 1951, it currently draws approximately 2000 participants each year and ends at Durban with festivities which include various stalls at the Blue Lagoon.
