My brother (Chris) and I took a 5 hour train ride from Saigon to Phan Thiet. It was a rainy day and the "state" of train station clearly did not impress us very much (Vietnam is trying!) but, a 0.5 hour taxi ride finally brought us to the front of the Pandanus Resort. Chris and I both breathed a sigh of relief at this point. The sparkly and friendly front desk staff very happily checked us and welcomed us with a refreshing drink of fresh watermelon juice. The grounds at the resort and the pool were absolutely stunning and flawlessly manicured. Our room was a beautiful and spotless family suite which consisted of 2 separate bedrooms and two separate baths, along with a living area. We were given a third floor, end unit (345) that had breathtaking views of the beach and the South China Sea. We ran into the General Manager (Steven) who immediately welcomed us to the Pandanus and invited us to attend his nightly wine tasting event held on the property. I assure you that you will search the world over and never possibly meet a nicer Gentleman and flawless host than Steven! The room-deal that we had included a breakfast buffet that started at 6 or 6:30am and ran until 10:30am. The food was a plentiful delight and it motivated us to get up early! As one would imagine, the resort also charged a incredibly fair price for lunches and dinners that were done with exceptional and the Pandanus flare that we came to expect! I could go on and on about the charm and exquisite beauty of this place and I certainly will with my family and friends but, do yourself a huge favor and stay at this gorgeous slice of Vietnam! My only huge regret was that we only stayed at the Pandanus 3 nights but, I assure you that during Thanksgiving in 2010 that I will stay there at least 2 weeks! I usually make it my "policy" to stay at a place once, since there are so many places to see in this world but, I will be back to the Pandanus, for certain and may even make it a Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Tradition! Thank you Pandanus and thank you too, Steven, for a long list of many pleasant memories! Until we meet again...
