We stayed at the Regal Apartments from late October 09 to early November and the apartments were disgusting. We arrived late and had to obtain our keys from the "locked box" at the front door - it was not locked. The apartment we had been allocated was on the fourth floor and when we entered the apartment we noticed a light on in the second bedroom. At first we thought someone was already in the apartment, but then noticed the bed from this bedroom was out in the living area with a picture leaning against the end of the bed. Also on the floor was a bundle of dirty rags. Contacted the night person and he came around about 25 minutes later and told us they were painting the apartment, but it was clean and we should be OK. We protested as the floor was filthy, the furntiure was dirty and the tea towel hanging on the stove looked as though it had never been washed in years. He then said he would "check" the computer downstairs to see if he could find another apartment for us. About 30 minutes later he returned and said he had found one on the first floor which was a much better apartment!! It was slightly better as the furniture was reasonably clean. However, the rest of the apartment was filthy and had a strange smell. As it was now getting late we had no other option, but to take the apartment. We cleaned down all the benches and tables, etc with disinfectant wipes and washed all the cultery and dishes before using them. it would appear that these apartments have not had a good clean for many, many months or years. Also Key Apartments are strictly non smoking, but it appears you can smoke on your balconies - result when you open your doors you get a burst of cigarette smoke in your apartment. The fly screen doors do not have latches for security is very bad. Additionally, the fly screeen door on the main lounge area was broken and could not be shut. We were not game to turn on the airconditioning units for fear of what might have come out - they obviously would not have been cleaned in years. Also they messed up our security access to the apartment block on the second day and as a result we were locked out at around 7pm at night, so we once again had to call the after hours number - he took about 30 minutes to arrive.
No way would be ever consider going back to these apartments.
