An ideal location for a family holiday, a honeymoon or a group holiday. The surrounding landscape is a tapestry of olive groves, sheep pastures, woods, sunflower fields, punctuated with cypress and ancient stone oaks. Here, far away from your hectic everyday life you can relax amidst a natural setting. In the early spring, almond and peach blossoms paint the valley. The summer brings honey scented ginestra (broom). Warm august nights are filled with cicada concerts. The hills are laced with golden hues in the mild autumn, warmed by the scent of chestnut fires throughout the valleys. Master craftsmen known for their artistic flair within an ancient tradition have restored all buildings at the Villa La Rogaia. Outstanding art works in marble and other stone works by the sculptor Wolfgang Sandt give each holiday apartment its own character. A large flower garden and sculpture park surround the house. Each apartment has a private terrace and tranquil garden to enjoy. A pool offers refreshment on hot summer days. There are miles of trails out our doorstep for hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding. The panoramic drive to Lago Trasimeno is as pleasant as the lake itself. Dotted with islands and castles, this lake is a beautiful place to go swimming, sailing and windsurfing. Many historically relevant towns are within easy driving distance from the villa such as Assisi, Perugia, Siena and Arezzo. In the Villa La Rogaia you can enjoy a relaxing holiday or you can choose among our range of creative courses - from painting, sculpting and dancing to cooking. You can also book the entire house for a group (with breakfast and dinner on request). There is also a seminar room available and a fully equipped professional kitchen with dining hall for groups. The house is situated amidst woods and meadows only four kilometres away from the quaint village of Castel Rigone, reached on an country road by car, mountain bike or foot. Those wanting to enjoy one of our creative courses or a week of hiking or biking may wish to arrive by train. Previous arrangement may be made for us to meet you upon arrival at Passignano Station. These are our five apartments Apartment La Pipo For 2 to 3 persons White marble floors in bedroom, living room and bathroom, ancient stonewalls and modern art objects give this apartment a special character. The balcony has a view of the Mediterranean garden, pool, lavender fields and olive groves. A perfect hideaway, for a romantic holiday for two or for a small family with one child. Pets welcome. Central heating; sheets and towels are provided. Apartment I Cuccioli For 2 to 3 persons I Cuccioli is a cool refuge from the summer’s heat and keeps a pleasant temperature in winter. The apartment was reconstructed with a very personal touch and has a kitchen work place all handmade from natural stone. For the bedroom we chose an antique brass bed frame. Right in front of the kitchen you may enjoy the afternoon and evening sun on your private terrace, shaded by a mulberry tree. Or find a quiet place under one of the olive trees in our garden. Floors and sinks are made of honey coloured Pietra di Palladio natural stones. The large terrace is surrounded by a flower garden with roses, jasmine, lavender and rosemary. Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view overlooking the rolling hills of Umbria and the Monte Amiata in neighbouring Tuscany. Here everybody meets in front of the open fireplace for cooking, taking meals, playing and relaxing. There is space for a family or group of four, with the possibility of additional sleeping accommodation for two more persons. All rooms are furnished with paintings, relief and sculptures by the artist Wolfgang Sandt. The kitchen workplace is made of Peperino sandstone and black slate in combination with sun coloured yellow tiles. On summer days you can enjoy your meals on the shaded terrace in front of the kitchen. The windows of this apartment open towards the flower garden, meadows, olive groves and rolling hills to the South, East and North. Through windows framed in ivy there is a view of our large sun terrace and rose garden perched at the edge of endless rolling hills. There is space for a family or group of four, with the possibility of additional sleeping accommodation for two more persons. The spacious balcony in front of the kitchen invites for leisurely meals and sunbathing. An Italian style holiday home like in times gone by…. All apartments are fully equipped with kitchen utensils. You will not find dishwashers, washing machines, micro wave ovens or automatic coffee makers, but of course you can use our washing machine. We deliberately have renounced to TV sets, stereo and telephones in our apartments: our guests will enjoy the luxury of silence and retreat during their stay at La Rogaia. A large flower garden and sculpture park surround La Rogaia. Each apartment has a private terrace lined with Mediterranean herbs and tranquil gardens to enjoy. Our pool offers refreshment on hot summer days. From April to November we only rent by the week from Saturday to Saturday.
