[techlady, 17/07/2009] This basic hotel still manages to be pleasant. Not everything is perfect nor perfectly clean, but it is in a quiet corner of Montmartre, near the metro (Abbesses), shops and local restaurants, but not too close to the touristy Place du Tertre. Some upgrades in the '90s added en suite baths with showers, etc. to make it reasonably modern. The hotel fronts on the leafy Place Emile Goudeau, which is a small park with benches under trees. The hotel is perfect for a "romantic weekend in Paris" as the guide mentions, located in the "picturesque place Emile-Goudeau". The hotel apparently is "lovely enough" to stay all the time in the room. The rooms are described as "comfortable without being spectacularly plush". The guide recommends rooms in the 4th or 5th floor because those have "stunning views".
