The sacre coeur church at Paris

, 06/09/2010] The church is very beautiful, moreover from there, there is a great view on Paris, what i will recommend is to walk on the little street and above all the artist square where people can see artist how they paint, buy a painting, eat to one of the bars... the square is very alive, including there is a dali museum where some works can be found only there

, 21/03/2009] When you walking on the hill Montmartre, you have to climb up steep staircases and streets to see the magnificent Basilica Sacre Coeur. This is the second highest viewpoint after the Eiffel Tower of Paris. The beautiful white domed Basilica of the Sacre Coeur was built for 36 years to honour the French victims of the 1871 Franco Prussian War. The style is Romano Byzantine and the architect is Paul Abadie. In this church we can see one of the worlds largest mosaics, depicting Christ with outstretched arms. The article explains the historical background of the building of the basilica built in 1876 as an "act of appeasement". The interior decoration with paintings "whose beauty will relieve you of any breath" and a ceiling image of Christ that "will knock you out". The bell tower lets the surroundings vibrate when it strikes and from the dome you get "a 50km panorama" view.

Sacré-Coeur basilica is the "city's white castle in the sky". In 1873 the French government decided to build this basilica "to symbolise the return of self-confidence" after the Franco-Prussian war. It was designed by the architect Paul Abadie in "Romanesque and Byzantine architectural styles" and consecrated in 1919. The basilica is the "second highest point in Paris after the Eiffel Tower" but the reviewer considers even the view from the steps "well worth the trip".
