[loiserg, 01/10/2005] Notre Dame Cathedral is a Parisian Catholic church which welcomes ''global'' parishioners each day for worship, as well as travellers who come to appreciate over 700 years of divinity and architecture. I've been past it on several visits but this year fate called me on a historic day, one remembered in sadness: the day the Pope died. To this reviewer, Notre-dame is "the most celebrated" cathedral of its kind "in the world". Its architecture is "one of the best examples" of the transition between "Romanesque" and "Gothic style", in particular the "gargoyles", but also the "carved portals" and the "façade". Although the cathedral was at one time "dilapidated", it is very "hard to imagine" this to be the case when seeing the cathedral today.
