    The Botanic Garden is situated on an 18 acre site amongst beautiful mature woodlands on the southern outskirts of Durham City. I visited them a couple of years ago along with some family members. The Garden was developed in 1970 as a teaching and research centre and are part of Durham University. Later on a visitor centre was built and was opened in 1988 to accommodate the 6000 annual visitors. [more...]

    We stayed at the Marriott Royal County recently whilst visiting relatives on a short break in Durham. The hotel is very easy to find as it is situated right in the heart of Durham city centre and set right next to the tranquil river Weir that runs through the city.
