Described as a "refreshing property" which has a rich history and was once described as "probably the most luxurious building the world has ever known" by Cannes News, the Palais de la Méditerranée maintains a "beautiful blend of Art Deco and neoclassical design" which has been enhanced by the "meticulous attention" paid to its "columned exterior and its bas reliefs" during restoration work. Although the exterior is "old-fashioned and grandiose," the ambiance is that of a "carefree, contemporary spirit" with young, vibrant staff to compliment the "sleek and modern" style. What used to be a "rizty casino and cabaret venue in the Riviera's roaring '20s halcyon days", is now a "glam 21st-century hotel". Only the 1929 "colonnaded facade remains". "Le Padouk", the Asian influenced restaurant, overlooks the "elevated indoor / outdoor Grecian mosaic-tiled swimming pool", as does the "Buddhist-style bar", the lot "behind the massive pillars of the majestic Art Deco facade".
