[more]The Laing Art Gallery dates from 1901 and houses a collection of both temporary and permanent art exhibitions. The highlights amongst the permanent collections that are held here include William Holman Hunt's painting of "Isabella and the Pot of Basil" and John Martin's "The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah".
Entry is free and the gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 5pm and on Sunday from 2pm until 5pm. Facilities for disabled patrons are provided and there is a gift shop and café on the premises.
